Located close to the city of Santiago, El Colorado Ski Center along with La Parva and Valle Nevado, from the biggest ski area in South America. It is located in the Metropolitana region about 25 miles east of Santiago, and located in the Andes mountain range.
If you are skiing for the first time, El Colorado Ski Center is one ski resort which boasts more slopes for beginners than any other. Open since 1988, El Colorado Ski Center has 22 slopes which are comprised of eleven for beginners; four for intermediates; three for advanced; and four for experts. Also available at the El Colorado Ski Center are 19 ski lifts which comprise the following: two double chaired; three triple chaired; 12 dragging lifts; and two for children.
Services are abundant at the El Colorado Ski Center. Included are: ski equipment; ski shop; international ski school; children’s mini school; mountain ski; trekking in the snow; mountaineering, and ski lockers. There is also a wide variety of restaurants including: KL Pub; Fast Food; and Restaurant in the Heights. Not to be missed are their discothèque, supermarket, grill and pub.
El Colorado has two villages: Villa Farellones and Villa Colorado. Farellones is older, larger, more traditional and less expensive. Colorado is modern, with a hotel and several condo buildings. Less expensive lodging can be found in Santiago. Encompassing 2,500 acres of terrain, El Colorado features trails for all levels, but is geared mainly toward beginners. In addition, snowboarding is available on the mountain as well as ski school classes and equipment rental.
